What is the International Cerebral Venous Thrombosis Consortium
History
The International Cerebral Venous Thrombosis Consortium (ICVTC) was founded in 2015 by a group of academic neurologists with an interest in cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT). Each of the founding members had a hospital-based registry of consecutive cases with CVT. However, because of the rarity of CVT, these researchers realized that international collaboration was key to a better understanding of this condition. Since its inception, the ICVTC has held annual face-to-face meetings at the European Stroke Organisation Conference, and attendance by other physicians with an interest grew steadily. By combining data from various countries, the ICVTC has been able to shed a better light on clinical manifestations, risk factors and optimal treatment of CVT (see list of publications).
